Spice Club - May 2023

Over a decade has passed since members asked us to create a spice club to add a little extra flavor to recipes paired with our wines and so here are the spices our chefs have been using for our May 2023 Spice Club and Recipes.

Sichuan Pepper

The warm spice and citrusy aroma of Sichuan peppercorns can be totally captivating.

Fragrant and lemony, not purely spicy, the peppercorn smell is wild and perfumed, and the taste is electric. It's both addictive and medicinal.

Totally versatile it can be used during cooking or as a garnish for meat, chicken, and fish dishes as well as in baking.

Garlic Powder

Garlic is valued for both its culinary qualities and medicinal attributes. This powder form dissolves readily when added to food making it ideal in many dishes that will not be cooked for long, including garlic and herb breads.

When using Garlic powder as a substitute for garlic in a recipe a quick conversion is to substitute 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder for each clove of garlic required by the recipe.

Onion Powder

Onion powder is one of the most used seasonings in recipes all around the world. It adds depth to the flavor of savory dishes without ever needing to chop up an onion and removes the irritating taste often associated with raw onion.

Onion powder is made with finely ground dehydrated onion and dissolves instantly in a dish without the tears of raw onions.

Ramen Seasoning

Ramen has gone from humble food to international phenomenon, with chefs now making artisan bowls with top-quality ingredients.

With Ramen Seasoning you can make a healthy, restaurant-quality ramen broth at home and to avoid using that noodle flavor sachet that’s full of MSG and artificial ingredients! Add your own fresh veggies to make this delicious and healthy!
