  • white wine vinegar  ·  1 cup 
  • Kosher Salt  ·  1/2 teaspoon 
  • Herbies Garam Masala Spice Mix  ·  2 teaspoons 
  • Herbies Mustard Seed Brown (whole)  ·  1/2 cup 
  • Herbies Mustard Seed Yellow (whole)  ·  1/2 cup 
  • Herbies Ginger, ground  ·  1 teaspoon 
  • Herbies Allspice, ground  ·  1 teaspoon 

Instructions

This recipe replicates our original Garam Masala Stoneground Mustard product.

Robust and earthy with a pleasant mustard bite, this stoneground mustard unfolds with warm spice, subtle sweetness, and fragrant complexity. The coarse texture adds character, while the garam masala lends depth without overwhelming heat.

  1. Soaking the Seeds - In a medium bowl combine vinegar, yellow and brown mustard seeds, salt, ginger, and allspice.Add mustard seeds and water to a bowl. Cover and let stand at room temperature for 24 hours so the seeds will slowly absorb the liquid.
  2. Add turmeric, peper, honey and garlic to mustard seed mixture.
  3. Using a blender, grind the soaked seeds to reachto your desired texture, keeping it slightly coarse for that classic stone ground feel., until it forms a thick, spreadable paste. Taste as you go and adjust with honey, herbs, or extra vinegar if needed.
  4. Transfer the mustard to a glass jar and refrigerate for 24 hours before using.

Jenny's Tip: - This mustard can then be kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
