Bill's Steak Rub Smashburger
This Smashburger recipe is quick and easy to make and is a perfect combination of spicy and savory.

For the Onion

Onion, diced

Ketchup

Kewpie Japanese Mayonnaise

Distilled White Vinegar

1 tablespoon
Soy Sauce

1 tablespoon
Herbies Bill's Steak Rub

1 teaspoon
For the Rub
·

1/4 teaspoon

For the Burger
·
Ground Beef (80/20)
·
1 pound
Butter
·
2 tablespoons
American Cheese, slices

Brioche Hamburger Buns

Instructions
For the Onion
Add diced onion to a pan over medium heat.
Cook until translucent, stirring occasionally.
Reduce heat to low and cook slowly until caramelized, about 30 minutes.
For the Sauce
In a bowl, combine ketchup, mayo, vinegar, soy sauce and Herbies Bill's Steak Rub.
Mix well and set aside.
For the Rub
In a bowl, combine Herbies Bill's Steak Rub, salt, sugar, and pepper
Mix well.
For the Burger
Separate ground beef into 1/4 lb. balls.
Season heavily with the burger rub.
Add to a hot pan over medium/high heat and smash with a burger press or a spatula.
Cook for 2 to 3 min until a nice crust forms on the bottom of the burger.
Flip and top 2 patties with caramelized onions.
Place one slice of cheese over each patty, and cook another 1-2 minutes.
Top onion-covered patty with one of the other cheese-covered patties and remove from heat.
In the same pan, melt butter until simmering, and place buns cut side down.
Allow to grill for 1-2 minutes until buttery and browned then remove from heat.
Top buns with sauce and burger patty stacks - Enjoy!
