Za'atar Crusted Grilled Shrimp Skewers

An easy and flavorful za'atar shrimp recipe to try on the grill. Perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • Limes, juiced  ·  2 whole 
  • Herbie's Za'atar Spice Mix  ·  2 tablespoons 
  • Shrimp, peeled and deveined  ·  1 pound 
  • Olive Oil  ·  1/2 cup 
  • bunch Italian Parsley  ·  1 
  • Garlic, whole  ·  5 cloves 
  • Jalapenos, seeded and de stemmed  ·  3 
  • Feta Cheese  ·  1/2 cup 
  • Water  ·  1 tablespoon 
  • bunch Cilantro  ·  1 
  • Salt, to taste  ·

Za'atar is a Mediterranean spice blend that includes thyme, oregano, sumac and sesame seeds; it's just packed with flavor and it makes for one tasty marinade.

Start by pre heating your grill to the highest temperature, make sure to oil the grill plate with vegetable oil using paper towels and a pair of tongs before grilling.

Take the shrimp out of the package and mix in a bowl with the juice of one lime and Herbie's Za'atar Spice Mix. Reserve in the refrigerator until ready to grill.

Add the juice of one lime, olive oil, parsley, cilantro, jalapenos, feta cheese, water, and salt to your blender. Blend on high until smooth. remove the dipping sauce from the blender and reserve.

To make the skewers, add 3 shrimp to each skewer and head out to the grill. Once the grill is hot, cook on each side for about 3 minutes until the shrimp is firm and no longer opaque. Remove the skewers from the grill and serve immediately!

Tommy's Tips: Don't have a grill? No problem! This recipe would work just as well by cooking the shrimp skewers on a flat top or griddle. Or you can get rid of the skewers all together and saute the shrimp in olive oil!
