Scandal Zinfandel 2017
Bill making a Zin? Now that is a scandal!
Bill agreed to make a more premium version of Zinfandel for the 2016 and 2017 vintages - Savor it while it lasts.
Spicy plum/Rasberry/Cream from barrel, lush great DCV symitery but the highest quality - WOW! Lovely sweet dark fruit cream in the mouth with long dry finish but not too tanic

This Scandal is a ripe red wine showing nice raspberry and pepper notes expected in a California Zinfandel. The typical jammy, fruity characteristics are present but subdued making it more complex in flavor and intensity than its local counterparts. In the mouth it is rich and sleek with none of the high alcohol heat or rough edges often associated with Zinfandel from Dry Creek Valley. The finish is again lingering , peaceful and polished - Scandalous!
Naturally we crafted the Zin with the same respectful winemaking as our high caliber Burgundy style wines. Treating the Zin with the same caring protocols as our Pinot produced a beautiful Zinfandel/Petit Sirah wine with a very smooth mouth.
Twelve months in French Oak, approximately 30% one use; 40% second use; 30% third use
We farmed a highly regarded Zin vineyard in Dry Creek Valley to support one of our Wine Club Members who owns the vineyard, a direct neighbor to the famed “Maple” vineyard. Ideally located on a south-facing slope with well-drained clay loam soils the vineyard is farmed to produce low-yield, high quality fruit resulting in 574 cases.
