Scandal doesn’t arrive politely—it asserts itself.
Dry Creek Valley gives it two battlefields: the sunbaked benchlands and the steeper, harder hillside rows. Fifty-fifty. Power and precision. The result is a Zinfandel that doesn’t hesitate, lush and approachable, yet ageworthy thanks to its structure.
Scandal - a Zinfandel made by a Bordeaux lover - what a Scandal !
Dry Creek Valley gives it two battlefields: the sunbaked benchlands and the steeper, harder hillside rows. Fifty-fifty. Power and precision. The result is a Zinfandel that doesn’t hesitate.
In the glass, it’s a deep, commanding crimson—light barely making it through.
The nose hits first: black cherry, ripe plum, and crushed blackberry, layered with the sharper edge of cracked pepper and a trace of dried herbs. There’s heat here—not from alcohol, but from intensity—like something coiled and waiting.
On the palate, it moves fast. Dense fruit up front—dark berries, a flash of bramble—then structure closes in. The hillside fruit brings grip, tension, control. The benchland softens the edges just enough, but not much. This wine isn’t interested in being easy.
Acidity keeps it on target. Tannins hold the line. Subtle notes of cedar, tobacco, and a whisper of char linger underneath, the mark of time spent in oak, not excess.
The finish is long, deliberate, and unapologetic—dark fruit fading into spice and earth, leaving a trace that sticks with you.
Scandal doesn’t ask for attention. It takes it.
Decant for at least one hour and serve at 65°F
Generous winter rains left excellent water reserves, a mild spring set the stage for steady growth, and Zinfandel’s natural heat tolerance, combined with consistently even ripening, produced grapes of remarkable concentration.
The result is a vintage bursting with flavor, balance, and character, producing wines that are both expressive and memorable.
No allergens were used in the making of this wine.
Our vineyards are cultivated according to the principles of sustainable agriculture, using traditional techniques, strict reduction and control of yields, manual harvests, and numerous hands-on only tasks throughout the year.
No chemical fertilizers are applied. Instead, carefully selected cover crops are planted and returned to the soil, providing organic nutrients that allow our vines to reach remarkable age and consistently produce outstanding grapes.
In the winery, nothing is added to alter flavor or color. Every wine is allowed to express its natural character, reflecting both the care of the vineyard and the integrity of the wines.
