Bill making a Zin? Now that is a real scandal!
The palate is silky, soft, super fresh and approachable with understated but pure fruit character which shows as both fruit-forward and multilayered, featuring black cherry, licorice and toasty herb flavors.
The fruity herb flavors fan out on the nice vibrant finish with medium tannin levels, relatively low alcohol levels for a Zin and medium acidity.
A Zinfandel expressing just the best of it's Dry Creek Valley terroir.
Faced with the challenges of drought and high altitude smoke from the Tahoe fires we had to adapt. With less available water, our crop and canopy management techniques were modified to balance the potential adverse effects of drought.
The high quality of our grapes remained intact and especially flavorful from fruit concentration since the vines didn’t receive excess water and the high altitude smoke allowed a longer hang time while decreasing extra sugar development albeit producing a significantly lighter crop due to our water conservation efforts.
In short, the 2021 year’s harvest brought lower crop yields, but the quality is excellent.
