Rapture Pinot Noir 2015
Burgundy beware - this is another quaffing Pinot Noir from Bill, this time from the Carneros appellation with warm summer days tempered by cool San Francisco Bay breezes to build complexity and spice into a mouth-filling Pinot. Potential for great aging over about five years but OK to drink now as well.
Bright cherry, cranberry and tart pomegranate fruits on the nose, laced with black pepper and cinnamon. The palate is a little like one might imaging bramble, with rose and clove characters lingering through the long finish. This full-bodied wine’s solid structure promises beautiful aging; drink now and over the next 5–6 years.
This was a blending exercise with our Carneros Pinot which is usually somewhat mono-dimensional but this year the daily weather patterns really worked in favor of our taste buds.
French Oak for 11 months, approximately 40% new, 40% one use and the balance neutral.
