Inspired to develop a smooth, cultured Cabernet exhibiting the best of both French and Napa Cabernet without overpowering tannin, 2012 Inspire is a blend of our Dry Creek Valley vineyards together with our hillside vineyards.
Similar in flavor and intensity to some of the best Bordeaux but distinctly riper and slightly less tannic, this wine is extremely food friendly and will enhance the enjoyment of many dishes.
Late and light rains held off until our wine grapes found optimal ripeness, bringing exceptional quality to the crush pad and into the cellar. The abundance of perfectly ripe grapes with a smooth balance of acids and sugars provided the opportunity to cull only the most select fruit, intentionally farming to lower yields bringing only the very best grape to harvest that results in wines acclaimed for their high quality in the bottle.
In the hillside Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards late deficit irrigation produces small berries with intense dark fruit flavors. By contrast early deficit irrigation practiced in our Home Ranch Cabernet Vineyard produces more lush and ripe fruit harvested later in the season.
We treat each vineyard lot and clone of these Cabernet vineyards separately, making beautiful stand-alone Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Then blending to produce exceptional flavor focus within the wine.
