Arouse is a Mélange (blended wine) designed to push the flavors of Bordeaux to the limit with a distinctly Bill twist.

The goal with Arouse is to create a blend that is not traditionally Bordeaux and come up with a unique American blend that is actually flavorful, delicious and works with regular foods enjoyed by everyone.

The 2021 Arouse Mélange is a huge wine with a wonderful broad aroma of dark, ripe plum. The wine shows powerful red fruit in the mouth with delicate touches of licorice and fennel. Silky with ultra-soft tannin throughout and not the slightest hint of astringency at any point in the tasting.

Arouse is a blend that, by design, Bill changes every vintage. The 2021 blend is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon supported by just a touch of Cabernet Franc.

The Cabernet component is itself a blend from two of our Cabernet vineyards, the majority being from our Chalk Hill vineyard. This is a wine to drink and enjoy.

The 2021 vintage was characterized by significant drought after very little winter rain and generally dry conditions.

The result was both lower yields and smaller berries across all varieties. and the wines all show greater flavor concentration, natural intensity and good ageing potential.

Matured in French Oak for 22 months, approximately 40% new, 40% one use and the balance neutral.

Cases produced = 479. No allergens were used in the making of this wine.
