Amuse Melange 2015

Amuse Melange 2015

An amusing blend of the Bordeaux-style reds. This sumptuous blend of Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and a hint of Shiraz showcases how an non-traditional Aussie blend can produce an amusing individual Bordeaux style wine using superb California fruit.

Tasting Notes

A nice ruby red color with notes of cedar and mineral on the nose. Up front in the mouth, bright cherry and plum with slight herbal or touch of spice in the mid-pallet surrounded by the presence of mild tannin.

There is a nice, brightly-focused acidity throughout which tends to make the wine seem leaner and not the heavy red it first appeared but that's just not true as the wine will show with its medium body and then a satisfying, if fairly rapid, finish.

Winemaker Notes

The 2015 year delivered us another stellar vintage. Despite a lighter crop compared to the previous year quality is high across the board. A mild winter causing early bud break, followed by protracted bloom and unseasonably cool weather in spring contributed to smaller grape clusters and variable crop size. Then a hot, dry summer gave the fruit from this vintage concentrated colors and flavors producing a vintage of exceptional quality.
