Spice Mix

A classic Cambodian-style seasoning for fish, prawns, chicken or vegetables.

Amok is a traditional Khmer spice mix with its own unique and distinctive character.

The special spice blend comes out of the cooking method where the dish is steamed in foil. The aroma is released when the foil is opened to reveal the amok - almost a meal in itself!

But you don't have to make a curry to enjoy the flavor. Our Amok spice mix can be used with vegetables or as a crusting for fish, chicken or pork and so review our recipes or create you own ideas for this incredibly beautiful spice mix.

Usage Suggestions

Amok SpiceAmok is a celebratory dish from Cambodia that is traditionally cooked in a banana or palm leaf, but you can use any heatproof bowl that fits inside your steamer. It has a mousse-like texture and is usually served with steamed rice. Amok may also be cooked in a wok or a saute pan for convenience.

We recommend using sea bass or cod for this dish. It should also be noted that this dish should not be chili hot, relying instead on fragrant and zesty flavors for its character.
