Allure Meritage 2018

Allure Meritage is a soft, complex American Bordeaux-style wine for soft, complex foods.

This wine is a seamless blend of the Nobel 5 Bordeaux varietals. In order of blend quantity, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. With not one varietal dominating they have become so integrated that they are now a new, unique wine.

An dark garnet color with a nice, illusively sweet cedar bouquet displaying notes of deep, dark blackberry fruit.

In the mouth a lovely soft, juicy, complex fruit with an underlying soft tannin structure as a result of using open-top tanks and a punch-down process for winemaking.

This wine is delightful on the palate with its richness and concentration. Blessed with superb balance, Allure Meritage is a wine for food lovers.

The 2018 season was seamless with heavenly hangtime and phenomenal phenolic development. February saw abundant rains, followed by lots of filtered light in spring and early summer. Both bud break and flowering occurred a bit late, but under ideal weather conditions, creating plentiful and even fruit set.

Summer brought generous sun during the day and cooler marine influences, virtually uninterrupted by major heat spikes. The relatively mild summer followed by extended fall sunshine and moderate heat created near-ideal conditions as the fruit developed flavor complexity, approaching maturity with gradual increases in sugar levels, reaching optimal balance of brix and pH levels at harvest.

Matured in French Oak for 22 months, approximately 40% new, 40% one use and the balance neutral.

Only 1,200 cases produced.
