Allure Meritage 2015

A soft, complex, Bordeaux-style wine for soft, complex foods. Savor it as a solitary experience or pair with Lasagna or Osso Bucco - whatever you choose - you win!

Allure is a Meritage, a seamless blend of the Nobel 5 Bordeaux varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc but with not one varietal dominating. There is no doubt that this wine contains all of the “noble five” grapes of Bordeaux, but they have become so integrated that they are now the “Sixth Bordeaux!”

An intense crimson color and a subtle bouquet that is both fruity and floral, displaying notes of fresh fig, blackberry, and red fruit such as raspberry, as well as hints of violet found in great vintages. The wine is delightful on the palate thanks to its power, richness, body, and concentration. Blessed with superb balance, *Allure* Meritage displays an incredible combination of power, delicacy, ripeness, and freshness. Complete and complex, it is above all smooth. Its complex bouquet will blossom over time while the wine's intrinsic freshness and power will undoubtedly remain unchanged.
Because of the drought, the worry early in the season was that the vines wouldn't have enough water for the vegetative cycle, never mind ripening fruit but thanks to nearly 3 inches of rain in February and more than an inch in April, the vines managed to thrive. Thankfully, summer was sunny and warm, particularly September and October, when temperatures regularly approached 100° F. Despite the lower yields, the wines have explosive aromatics, great concentration and very fine-grained tannin with reds like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot showing plush and nicely ripe flavors.
French Oak for 22 months, approximately 40% new, 40% one use and the balance neutral.
