Allure Meritage 2010

Bordeaux, yes all of it, both banks, all in one glass! An almost brooding dark garnet color comes to the nose in waves of blackberry and texture.

There is no doubt that this wine contains all of the “noble five” grapes of Bordeaux, but they have become so integrated that they are now the “Sixth Bordeaux!”

Allure is a Meritage, a seamless blend of the Nobel 5 Bordeaux varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc but with not one varietal dominating.

In the mouth, layers of flavor, some delicate and some rushing forward in an attempt to dominate, but then it becomes smooth across the tongue and becomes a fabulous lingering palate memory, inviting you to take another taste.
The 2010 grape harvest was challenging with a wet spring followed by a late bud break and then a long, cool growing season that ended with a heat spike bringing the grapes to a quick maturity. As expected this gave us slightly lower sugars with higher acids and deep colors and flavors. The season caused us a lot more time in the vineyard trimming fruit or pulling leaves to assure full fruit maturity and lower than normal yields. We ended up with remarkable quality of fruit throughout our range of vineyards which led to a more restrained, elegant style of wine.
French Oak for 22 months, approximately 40% new, 40% one use and the balance neutral.
