Allure Meritage 2009

Another in a long line of Gold Medal winners the 2009 Meritage Allure is a seamless blend of the Nobel 5 Bordeaux varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc but with not one varietal dominating.

One can feel this wine unfolding, revealing layer upon layer of delicate flavor, then the surprise, taken into the mouth together with a complex, multi flavored food like lasagna, the whole experience sings.

Tasting Notes

In the glass a lovely blackberry nose with alluring hints of plum and blackcurrant character. The palate offers a fresh although gently textured wine covering the ripe tannins that persist to the end very nicely with a depth, substance and richness.

Winemaker Notes

Abundant 2009 spring rains abated winter drought concerns, and a relatively temperate growing season produced excellent fruit quality. A mid-October rain caused some concern but then a beautiful Indian summer weather followed the rainy, humid conditions, allowing the grapes to reach optimum maturity. The fruit came in without a rush, ripening slowly and showing great quality.

Cooperage Notes

French Oak for 29 months, approximately 40% new, 40% one use and the balance neutral.
