Guys Can Cook Too!

Each year in May we have Guys Can Cook Too! - a wine and food extravaganza hosted by the Rotary Club in which the best of Sonoma County’s famous cuisine is paired with incomparable wines for a fabulous evening of food and wine in a magnificent setting overlooking the Sonoma countryside.

This special evening joins amateur chefs, professional chefs, celebrity chefs and wineries for an abundant food and wine experience. The amateur chefs choose a food category; appetizer, a soup or salad, a main course, or a dessert. Celebrity chefs from top restaurants in Sonoma County judge the dishes.

Our own talented amateur chef Sam Williamson was a runner up with his version of Mojito Garlic Chicken Wings with mint, garlic, lemon, butter and honey.

Weeks before the event, each professional chef is partnered with a winery to pair the right dish with their vintner’s wine. The results are inventive and delicious.

At this event Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen Chef de Cuisine, Dustin Valette

worked in concert with Bill Williamson to produce an absolutely breathtaking dish. Dustin created Sourdough Bellini topped with Smoked Salmon Crème Fresh and then American Black Caviar. This brilliant taste was perfectly paired with the Williamson Fizz Champagne. Yum!

We suspect that this dish might find its way to the Dry Creek Kitchen menu so if it does just pick up a chilled bottle of Fizz at our tasting room and enjoy it at DCK.
