Yoakim Bridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

These notes are from our first tasting of this 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon in August 2022. Holding firm on its garnet color with no fading at the edges after six years in the bottle.

Shows the dry tannins and herbal quality with light hints of leather and wood smoke on the nose leading to a round, mouth-filling sensation of black currant and cherry flavors awash in sage and tobacco ending with delightful black pepper and even Chinese five-spice notes.

Beautifully structured with the dry, firm, but smooth tannin and herbal quality that so often mark Dry Creek Cabs. Still tasting like a light young Cabernet this is a wine of great anticipation to be treated with respect as it approaches with a jab and follows through with a punch, suggesting moderate age-worthiness.

The wine continues to evolve as expected so for those lucky few of you who have additional bottles of this in cellar you have our blessing to carefully open and preview. This is a wine worthy of an elegant meal.

This 2014 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon is from Stromberg Vineyards in the scenic hills of Dry Creek Valley. Ripened at the height of the third consecutive year of drought, the 2014 vintage had a long and dry growing season with mild temperatures making for concentrated and intensely flavored fruit.
