Herbie's Shish Kebab Spice Mix is an exotic blend of warming Mediterranean aromatic spices which combine a smokey and tangy taste sensation but still soft enough to allow the roasted meats and vegetables of the kabobs to show their flavors.
Shish kabobs are the ultimate summer grilling recipe. Juicy and tender cubes of your favorite meat soaked with lemon juice and Shish Kebab spice mix, then threaded on skewers with onion, bell peppers, and mushrooms before being tossed on a hot grill for a quick 15 minutes until perfectly browned.
For vegetables use red onion, bell peppers of all colors. Mushrooms are a classic kabob combo but feel free to use other vegetables that grill beautifully such as summer squashes or eggplant.
If using bamboo skewers, soak them in water for 1 hour to retard charring.
Shish kebabs originated in Persia and the name shish kabob comes from the Turkish word şiş kebap, which translates to skewered roasted meat and describes a grilled dish that combines meat, fruit and veggies on a skewer with multiple spices found in the Middle East.
