Ravish Melange 2019

Deep garnet in the glass, the wine opens with generous aromas of ripe black cherry, plum, and cassis, layered with hints of cocoa, warm spice, and a touch of cedar. The small inclusion of Cabernet Franc lends a subtle floral lift—violet and a whisper of dried herbs—while the Cabernet Sauvignon contributes a faint graphite edge.

On the palate, the wine is supple and round, driven by Merlot’s plush texture and dark fruit core. Flavors of blackberry compote and blackcurrant are framed by notes of mocha and toasted oak. Fine-grained tannins provide structure without austerity, carrying through to a long, polished finish with lingering impressions of spice and soft earth.

Balanced and approachable, yet with enough backbone to evolve gracefully over the next several years.

Our 2019 growing season had about it a certain calm good sense, as though the vines themselves had decided not to rush matters. Winter arrived with generous rains, soaking the soils and setting everything right after a few leaner years. Spring, cool and unhurried, kept the vines in check, delaying budbreak just enough to ensure an even start. Summer followed in the same agreeable vein—warm, but never excessive—allowing the grapes to ripen at their leisure, gathering flavor rather than racing toward sugar.

By the time harvest arrived, there was no need for panic or persuasion. The weather held, the fruit hung beautifully, and picking proceeded at a civilized pace. The resulting wines reflect this easy confidence: balanced, composed, and quietly expressive, with a sense of harmony that suggests they will reward both early enjoyment and a bit of patience in the cellar.

French Oak for 22 months, approximately 40% new, 40% one use and the balance neutral.

Our vineyards are cultivated according to the principles of sustainable agriculture, using traditional techniques, strict reduction and control of yields, manual harvests, and numerous hands-on only tasks throughout the year.

No chemical fertilizers are applied. Instead, carefully selected cover crops are planted and returned to the soil, providing organic nutrients that allow our vines to reach remarkable age and consistently produce outstanding grapes.

In the winery, nothing is added to alter flavor or color. Every wine is allowed to express its natural character, reflecting both the care of the vineyard and the integrity of the wines.
