Petit Verdot is a variety of red wine grape, principally used in classic Bordeaux blends. Generally grown only intermittently throughout the Bordeaux region in France, the highest concentration being in the St. Emilion district.
We have Petit Verdot planted in three of our vineyards, including our Home Ranch. A difficult grape to grow, this rare variety is typically the last harvested, sometimes as much as two weeks after Cabernet Sauvignon.
Perky pairs well with spicy foods and it is a natural fit for rich meat dishes such as grilled steak, spicy pork, veal, lamb and all types of game and sausage. Naturally it is also perfect with hard and semi hard cheeses.
