Passion Pinot Noir 2016

Passion is a supple, new world Pinot with a light color and an inviting “rose petal and soft cherry” nose.

Passion has a dark fruit nose - did you get that blackcurrant? This is a wow of a Russian River Valley Pinot with mellow plum on the palate followed by a lovely ripe black fruit and just a hint of black cherry. One of our tasting panel is a chef who exclaimed ". . . mmm this is a really great Pinot" finishing with its subtle brown spice and lush accents of cola and dried thyme scents.
The 2016 vintage exceeded our expectations on both quality and quantity. The overall vigor of this growing season was high which required vigilant canopy management. By addressing canopy management and green fruit harvesting early we were able to significantly reduce pest pressure and encourage early fruit ripening. The final wine quality in tank was excellent.
100% French Oak: 40% New; 35% One Use; 25% Neutral
This wine was not blended - as the vineyard gives it to us we give it to you and only 342 cases were produced. The grapes are cold-soaked for pre-ferment maceration, fermented in small, temperature-controlled, open-top tanks with punch downs occurring as needed during fermentation followed by 30 to 45 days of post-ferment maceration. The free-run wine is then consigned to Burgundy French oak barrels for approximately 11 months.
