Joy Sauvignon Blanc 2014
100% Sauvignon Blanc, the fourth great vintage from our J&J Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. The intense flavor of this delicious wine is captivating and you will instantly see why the French call their finest Sauvignon Blanc a "savage white!"
Perfect with soft goat cheese or brie but just as at home with Sushi, Chinese food or any chicken or fish dish. The flavor however, makes this wine a great drink all by itself.
Crisp and elegant with grapefruit and citrus flavors on the nose rolling on to a beautiful ripe honeydew melon in the mouth. The slight mineral structure reminds one of limestone and hints at the wine's food pairing value as it lingers past the finish to leave you wanting more.
Traditionally Sauvignon Blanc is from cooler climates, however this is no cool climate, grassy, herbaceous Sauvignon Blanc. Grown in the center of Dry Creek Valley in a old stream bed under the shade of a small mountain it gets cool mornings, hot midday periods, then loses the sun early behind the mountain. Grown here it takes on more peach, passion fruit and kiwi-like flavors.
Like our Kiwi cousins we ferment in stainless steel but then they transfer it to glass bottles for quick export while we transfer it to neutral French oak barrels for an eleven month period of micro-oxygenation which rounds the wine into a luxurious mouthful of pleasure.
Aged in neutral French Oak fro 11 months
