Gertie – A Beautifully Aromatic Dry White Wine
Meet Gertie, our captivating take on the classic Gewürztraminer. This elegantly aromatic dry white wine offers just a whisper of sweetness, perfectly balanced by its medium to low acidity—making it an exceptional companion to a wide range of dishes.
Crafted from the spicy Traminer grape, Gertie carries a rich legacy dating back to the first century in the village of Tramin. As the grape journeyed to Alsace, it earned the name Gewürztraminer—literally "spicy Traminer"—and has delighted palates since 1870. By 1973, Alsace embraced a simpler name for this beloved varietal: Gertie.
Fresh, fragrant, and food-friendly, Gertie is more than a wine—it’s a story in every sip.
“Gertie” delivers a dry, yet juicy mouthful of lychee, super fresh fruit salad and honeysuckle-lime notes with just the illusion of sweetness. A dry wine with a lovely harmonious balance of acidity and tannin, then a clean bright subtle Grapefruit finish.
Chilled, this wine serves well by itself as an aperitif and will pair with zesty-flavored fare like BBQ chicken wings and will certainly go well with Thai, Indian, Turkish, Moroccan, Mediterranean and Lebanese dishes using either chicken and fish. It is also the all-time-classic pairing for Thanksgiving turkey and all its customary fixings.
The fruit was perfect, a testament to our sustainable farming methods in the vineyards and the courage to devote Russian River Valley terroir to Gewürztraminer in addition to the more expensive varieties of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
The grapes were barrel fermented in neutral barrels using native yeast and with no further malolactic fermentation this wine made itself in as natural a manner as possible.
