Frivolous Rose 2021

In the eighteenth century great Burgundies were pale; Romanée-Conti was described as having a clear, pink hue.
After tasting rosé in Marsannay, the only Village in Burgundy which produces quality rosé wines, we just had to do it even if it was frivolous of us to use great Russian River Pinot fruit to make a rosé.
This Marsannay styled rosé can be served throughout the meal, with summer barbecues, cured meats, pork and chicken, crab and salmon. It is also a great accompaniment to Asian, Mediterranean and Mexican spiced foods.

A pretty pink hue in the glass while the nose shows a tender fruitiness of summer strawberry with a hint of rose petals. The mouth is characteristically full, fresh, and enticing. The delicate, soft, fruit-forward result is its own reward but the hint of mineral in the center palate betrays that this is definitely a food wine.

Pinot Noir has the potential to make an aromatic and delicate rosé and so Frivolous is our version of a Marsannay-style rosé, comprised of 100% Rose of Pinot Noir from our Russian River Valley Vineyards. The juice was removed from the skins within hours of crush and naturally fermented preserving the bright fruit.
