Hand-rubbed with local honey and Redmond RealSalt, SeaHive is a beautifully balanced treat.
From the land of salt and honey. Made from the milk of Jersey cows in northern Utah, this is a full-bodied cheese with a smooth, creamy texture.
SeaHive is hand-rubbed with wildflower honey harvested from a local farm and RealSalt sea salt. RealSalt is harvested from an ancient sea bed near Redmond, Utah and contains unique flecks of color from more than 50 natural trace minerals.
On first approach SeaHive shows salty and creamy aromas with the slightest bit of honey. With first taste the flavors were a little dry and milky which rapidly became a pleasant milk flavor with good salt and a hint of honey.
Moving to a thicker piece there was definitely more honey flavor in the rind than in the front of the wedge and this cheese became a true expression of local flavors, superior quality and creativity.
Try this cheese on its own or paired with a variety of nuts such as Dawn's Nutz or shaved on salads and soups.
Tasting with chocolate: First indulge in a square of dark chocolate with fruit and caramel. Let the flavors coat your tongue before pairing with a slice of the SeaHive to experience the contrasting flavors of dark chocolate while the uniquely forming crystals of the salt add a slight crunch to the creamy flavor lingering on your palate long after the chocolate has melted on your tongue.
This outstanding cheese is "imported" from Utah, and is cut and wrapped by cheese experts. Our cheese always ships expedited in an insulated package to ensure freshness.
Beehive produces award-winning cheeses like honey, salt-rubbed Seahive, or Red Butte Hatch Chile.
Owners Pat and Tim had no cheesemaking experience when they started Beehive. After learning how to make their base cheese, Promontory, the partners realized pretty quickly that you can’t make great cheese without the best milk.
They chose to partner with Wadeland South, a fourth-generation family creamery. The Wade family cares for a healthy and thriving herd of Holstein and Jersey cows. The high butter fat of their milk gives Beehive Cheeses a consistent, rich quality.
