Very Burgundian Chardonnay - an incredible nose with hints of orange zest and rose petals.
Amourette could be considered the purest expression of the Chardonnay grape. In the mouth hints of exotic fruit flavors and minerality presenting itself with a delicate wet-stone sensation, all carried on a nice weight through to the finish.
Showing the perfect amount of French Oak which remains, as it should, in the background in conjunction with the restricted malolactic, all to prevent buttery notes but allow just a touch of butterscotch in this balanced wine with enough acidity and body to evoke power, while not erring on the side of being too heavy.
An example of single-varietal (Chardonnay Clone 76) and a single, perfect vineyard, grown exclusively for low yield, high quality fruit.
Following good winter rainfall and a cool spring, the 2019 summer growing season was near-perfect. Fortunately, the rain came when the flowers budded minimizing any shatter issues. The cool spring slowed down some of the fruit growth allowing the grapes time to develop and ripen, then the hotter August temperatures provided the right amount of stress at the right time for flavor development.
Fermented and matured in French Oak barrels for 12 months - 33% new, 33% one use, balance neutral.
