DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL WINNER at Sonoma Harvest Fair Wine Competition in September 2012. Double Gold Medals are awarded in rare cases where the all Judges unanimously award a gold medal to a single wine.
An intriguing, delicious and very approachable wine. Soft and round initially, the wine has a slowly-changing feel that adds real intrigue on the palate, hinting at the little love affair about to begin.
Aromas are lush and rich, a clue to the bright fruit to come on the palate. You may detect aromas of exotic fruit with a little almond paste or even toasted bread.
In the mouth, it reveals delicious notes of white fruits and hazelnut with discreet acidity on the palate and a smooth, impressively long finish but still perfectly balanced.
With all of its complexity it still has a lot of finesse and elegance, this is a very approachable wine.
Amourette Chardonnay comes off the original Home Ranch vineyard where fruit is handpicked from low yielding vines. They are then whole bunch pressed followed by 100% barrel fermentation in approximately 35% new, select French oak. Fermentation was allowed to occur naturally, with the ‘wild yeasts’ responsible for the fermentation introducing more complexity and personality into the wine.
