Pairing Notes
The wine is a melding of noble character and fine elegance with great style - This is Merlot as it was meant to be, an ideal pairing for chocolate desserts, excellent with soft meats such as pork chop, rack of lamb or filet mignon. more . . .
The color is a dark ruby-red with mauve highlights. The nose is fine, fruity, and vivacious, with hints of black fruit with ripe as well as roasted nuances. Rich and silky caresses the palate, the full, fresh flavor develops beautifully, and the elegant tannin and aromatic richness complement one another from beginning to end. Fresh and well-balanced, this vintage will age gracefully, but can also be enjoyed as of now.
A classic vintage from start to finish. Textbook conditions in 2012 saw near-ideal spring bud break, steady flowering, even fruit set, and a lengthy stretch of warm days and cool and often foggy nights during the long summer months. Late and light rains held off until our wine grapes found optimal ripeness, bringing exceptional quality to the crush pad and into the cellar. The abundance of perfectly ripe grapes with a smooth balance of acids and sugars provided the opportunity to cull only the most select fruit, intentionally farming to lower yields bringing only the very best grape to harvest that results in wines acclaimed for their high quality in the bottle.
French Oak for 22 months, approximately 40% new, 40% one use and the balance neutral.
