Amour Merlot 2002

This is the one that started it all with its perfect ruby color and wonderful blackberry aromas.

Excellent with non-spiced meats such as pork chop, rack of lamb or filet mignon but also try it with anything chocolate.

It has a lovely ruby red color. The nose gradually opens up to reveal aromas of cherry, liquorice, and coca. The wine starts out very smooth on the palate, going on to reveal a lean, streamlined structure with great finesse. The tannic texture is tightly-knit, but the wine is perfectly balanced and ethereal, with a long, flavorsome aftertaste inviting another taste.
Beginning the year with average rainfall, the 2002 growing season was long, dry and mild, with only a few brief periods of high temperatures. The fruit was able to hang longer on the vine to develop intense, ripe berries, with deep color and complex flavors.
French Oak for 22 months, approximately 40% new, 40% one use and the balance neutral.
