Jaggery Chai Tea

It's ideal to have your morning tea made with jaggery as it speeds up digestion after the long hours of fasting. Jaggery is known for its warming properties and this tea is very comforting.

Ingredients

  • Herbie's Jaggery  ·  2 teaspoons 
  • Herbie's Ginger Powder  ·  1/2 teaspoon 
  • Herbie's Cardamom Seed - Green (ground)  ·  1/2 teaspoon 
  • Tea Leaves  ·  2 teaspoons 
  • Milk  ·  1/2 cup 

Instructions

This tea has a deep earthy flavor from jaggery and tastes delicious. During winters a cup of Jaggery Chai Tea will be a great pick me up evening drink.

This recipe makes one cup.

To a sauce pan add 3/4 cup water, 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder and cardamom powder and 2 teaspoons of Jaggery. Bring to a boil. Now add 2 teaspoon tea leaves. Bring to a boil and simmer for 3-4 minutes. Now add 1/2 cup milk and simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Place the water for boiling.

  • Add the jaggery, ginger and cardamom powder.
  • When the jaggery dissolves, add the tea leaves.
  • Let it come to a boil.
  • Add the milk.
  • Allow it to boil.
  • Remove from flame.
  • Using a tea filter/sieve, filter and discard the solids.

Serve jaggery tea hot.
