Keith Tulloch Shiraz 2012
The 2012 vintage produced Shiraz with loads of charming black-cherry and raspberry perfume, a fine, feminine balance of fruit flavor, and gentle tannins.
In this wine, co-fermentation with 5% Viognier has added much more perfume – most noticeably, floral hints of rose-petal and spice – and silky textural roundness to the palate. Fine French oak fragrances chime in, adding a delicate touch of warm vanilla and cedar-spice harmony. This medium bodied red has an extraordinarily alluring balance throughout, and a sensationally silky persistence; it has been made to mature and soften beautifully with 4+ years in the cellar.
Made in the Cote Rotie style, the Shiraz is co-fermented with 5% Viognier. The grapes are chilled and cold soaked for three days prior to fermentation and hand plunged to completely mix and immerse the cap resulting in softer extraction of color and tannin. Skin contact continues for four weeks after primary fermentation. The co-ferment is barrel aged in fine French oak barriques for 10 months.
