Caress Cuvee Blanc 2016

Made aromatic and dry - definitely not sweet - it smells like a bouquet of flowers and freshly sliced pear.

The lush style of our Cuvee Blanc simulates Chenin Blanc and is an wonderful California example of a Loire Valley Vouvray Sec with textbook acidity, a nice concentration of fruit flavors and with less than 4 grams per liter of residual sugar, the driest (Sec) level.

Enjoy the nose of this bright, vibrant golden wine. Its aromatic profile ranges from subtle fruit like candied peach, honeyed apricots, or quince with a honeysuckle floral note and a little spice. Really a deceptive wine, with such a perfumed nose, you might think it’s going to be slightly sweet but no, it’s actually dry with a peach, apricot and tropical fruit flavors with a long, lingering, sensual finish. Because of its unique flavor profile, Caress is actually a very food-friendly wine, making it a great choice when contemplating foie gras, oysters, lobster or crab, butter or cream based sauces, curries and both Asian and Indian food in general. For a incredible dessert poach pears in a little Caress with a spoon of sugar and serve with white chocolate, Crème fraîche and vanilla ice cream. Fabulous!
The 2016 harvest was a mostly normal yield of exceptional quality fruit, in which a relatively even growing season followed welcome winter rains that helped to alleviate any drought. The 2016 harvest looked a lot like the 2015 harvest in that it started early, finished early, and the wines are tasting great. The yields were down a little from the long-term average, but wine quality is stellar so all-in-all another high quality California vintage.
Caress is crafted from a best-of-the-best cuvée delivering a haunting, complex, long-lived white wine.
