December 2012 Wine Club News

Our 2012 grape harvest and primary wine ferment is behind us. Each wine has retained good hue and depth and with the help of our skilled winery staff, the reds will undergo maturation for at least a further 18 months in French oak barrels.  

Initial tasting leads me to believe that, while naturally youthful, these wines will follow in our established traditional of gold medal winning wines.  

We competed again this year at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair Wine Competition.  Pitted against the best of our neighbors our wines won several gold medals, including Double Gold in the highest class for Chardonnay for the already highly awarded Amourette Chardonnay.  

We also received Gold medals for Indulge Cabernet Sauvignon and both these Gold medal winners will be coming to you in your December or February club shipments.  The medals were presented at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair Wine Competition’s Gala Awards Dinner where we had fun meeting up with the top winemakers from Sonoma County.  

Dawn and I are off to Australia in January to prepare for our annual Oz Odyssey wine club trip and to spend a little time with the folks at Herbie’s Spices.  Now we are importing Herbie’s Spices we have access to a broad range of fresh, natural herbs and spices to enhance the flavors of our cooking and to complement our wines.
