Australian Travel Advice
There are so many carriers and routes to Australia that we leave getting there to you so the Oz Odyssey does not include your air travel to and from Australia. This allows you to use your favorite airline miles, to plan your personal travel in Australia and the South Pacific and the options to stop off in Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand or Singapore on the way there or back.
Once you meet us in Sydney at the specified date and time we cover the Oz Odyssey trip, which concludes in Adelaide. From there you can depart for Sydney, Melbourne or New Zealand, stay in an Adelaide hotel for travel on to Kangaroo Island or pick up a rental car, etc., to continue the solo portion of your Australian vacation. If staying on in Adelaide please let us know the name of your destination hotel so our driver can take you there directly.
Passport and Entry Visas
Australian entry requires that U.S. Citizens must have a valid U.S. Passport and a Visa to enter Australia. To apply or renew a U.S. Passport, just click here U.S. Passport Website for an application or a Passport office in your area. NOTE: Your Passport must be valid for at least six (6) months after arrival date in Australia.
Also as U.S. passport holders traveling to Australia for tourism for less than 90 days you can obtain an Electronic Travel Authority. The ETA is an electronic label-free visa and can be obtained at the ETA website for a small service fee.
Credit Card Purchases Require a PIN
Purchases with credit cards in Australia require the use of a personal identification number (PIN) instead of signatures to verify payments. This applies to transactions made in Australia using American Express®, Visa, MasterCard® or Diners Club card.
Your bank or card issuer will provide you with the PIN for your credit or debit card so make sure you have your PIN for each card you intend to use while in Australia.
Items to Pack, What to Wear, Climate, etc.
The weather in mid-March is similar to California at the end of September with daily highs of 80 and lows of 60. There will be a 20% possibility of rain, so dress in "layers" for the trip as it is likely to be hot when you arrive.
Suggested items to pack include sunhat, sunscreen, sunglasses, swimsuit, walking shoes or flats for the day trips and a camera.
Australians are casual by nature and easily accept typical U.S. clothing styles. The Aussie daytime dress code is smart casual with comfortable walking shoes. Jeans and shorts are quite acceptable.
Our evening restaurant dress code is again smart casual with no jeans, caps, coats or ties for the guys and just a little jewelry for the girls.
